Tonight’s my first night as a watchdog,

And here it is Christmas Eve.

The children are sleepin’ all cozy upstairs,

While I’m guardin’ the stockin’s and tree.

What’s that now-footsteps on the rooftop?

Could it be a cat or a mouse?

Who’s this down the chimney?

A thief with a beard-

And a big sack for robbin’ the house?

I’m barkin’, I’m growlin’, I’m bittin’ his butt.

He howls and jumps back in his sleigh.

I scare his strange horses, they leap in the air.

I’ve frightened the whole bunch away.

Now the house is all peaceful and quiet again,

The stockin’s are safe as can be.

Won’t the kiddies be glad when they wake up tomorrow

And see how I’ve guarded the tree.

오늘 밤은 집 지키는 개로서 보내는 첫날밤이에요.

그리고 여기는 크리스마스이브랍니다.

아이들은 위층에서 모두 편안히 자고 있고,

전 크리스마스 양말과 트리를 지키고 있어요.

이게 뭐죠, 지붕 위에서 들리는 발소리는 

고양이나 쥐일까요 

이게 뭐예요, 벽난로 아래로 내려오는 손님은 

수염을 기른 도둑 

집을 털기 위한 큰 자루를 들고 왔어요.

저는 짖고, 으르렁대고, 그의 엉덩이를 물어요.

그는 울며 썰매로 도로 뛰어듭니다.

그의 이상한 말들에게 겁을 주니 공중으로 뛰어오르죠.

제가 무리 전체를 모두 쫓아냈어요.

이제 집은 다시 평화롭고 조용해졌어요.

크리스마스 양말도 더할 나위 없이 안전합니다.

내일 아침 어린이들이 일어나면 기뻐할 거예요

제가 어떻게 트리를 지켰는지 보면요.
